Marion Reads: Stamped from the Beginning Discussions on Zoom and at Lowe Park

Readers of all ages are invited to join us in reading and discussing Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi or Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi. We will be hosting four (4) opportunities to discuss the books in August both online and in person. Register for Marion Reads Book Discussion(s).

Zoom/Virtual Discussions:
  • Monday, August 10: 6-7pm
  • Thursday, August 13: noon-1pm

Walking Book Discussions at Lowe Park:

  • Monday, August 17: 8-9am
  • Thursday, August 20: 7-8pm
Starting the week of July 13, a limited number of copies will be available for free at the Marion Public Library and Lowe Park (4500 10th Street). Don’t worry about finishing the books! Read what you are able, join one (or more) of our events and be open to listening and learning. When you join one of our discussion groups, we expect all participants in our book discussions to maintain an atmosphere of respect and fairness. Anyone who violates this standard of behavior including engaging in any form of harassment, may, at the discretion of the organizers, be immediately removed or asked to leave.
