Monday's Not Coming by Tiffany Jackson
Monday Charles is missing and no one seems to notice except her best friend Claudia. Girls of color go missing every day in D.C., and few of the adults in Claudia's life are concerned about Monday's absence. Claudia makes it her mission to find Monday with or without anyone's help.
I read Tiffany Jackson's first novel, Allegedly, last year, and it was incredibly intense! This book is equally intense, but in a different way. Where Allegedly read more like a thriller that had you racing to the ending, Monday's Not Coming took you along the desperate emotional journey that Claudia goes through to find her soul sister, all the while you're dreading the ending because you know that it can't be good. The timeline was confusing at parts. It's broken down between "Before," "Before the Before," "After," "Two Hours Before the Before," and jumps back and forth. Prepare for an emotional ride if you pick this book up!
This book is available through the Metro Library Network.
