We are so pleased to be able to offer Playaway audio books to our patrons, starting Monday, November 4th. What is a Playaway, you ask? It’s an audio book that requires no WiFi, no CD player, no paid subscription, and no downloads. You simply put a AAA battery in the top of the Playaway, plug in your headphones, and you can listen to your audio book. Playaways are small, perfect to take on your run; tuck into your pocket when you’re walking the dog  or getting your to-do list done at home.

A Short Story Dispenser has been making a tour of Iowa libraries before it returns to its home at the University of Iowa. Marion Public Library will serve as the last stop on the literacy kiosk’s “Creative Corridor” tour. The kiosk will be hosted at MPL throughout the month of April.  Users can choose the timeframe they’d like to read (anywhere from 1-5 minutes) and then a free short story or poem will print out on eco-friendly paper for them to enjoy. The dispenser is located at the front of the library, near the self checkout area.
