If not for our Customer Experience librarian Sue Gerth, I would have missed out on this treasure of a book. I first dismissed The Lost City of the Monkey God by Douglas Preston because I thought it was another of his fiction books which he co-authors with Lincoln Child with great success; however, this book tells the true tale of his adventures in Honduras looking for the fabled city of the monkey gods.

I enjoy the steampunk genre. I was excited to find a book that would introduce this genre to my child. I picked up Maria’s first book in an airport while preparing to take a very long flight – Poison Study looked like just the thing I needed to make the long in-flight hours “fly” by. A new addition to the Marion Public Library is bright orange carts labeled “Recently Returned” and located next to the Circulation desks. These carts hold the latest materials that patrons have checked out and returned; they give you the opportunity to see what’s popular in the community. Best of all, you can check out those materials before they are re-shelved. Patrons are excited to see the carts and have commented on finding materials they wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. We encourage you to browse the carts; they are updated daily with newly returned materials.
